Glowthorpe’. This is a lantern parade to be held on Tuesday 25 November (4-7 p.m.) outside the Dearne Playhouse in Goldthorpe celebrating light, inclusivity, growth and unity, with workshops being held earlier where people can make the lanterns to be used in the parade.
Community workshops open to all will be held on:
- Wednesday 29 October (10 a.m. – 1 p.m.) at Goldthorpe Pentecostal Community Church, Market Street, Goldthorpe, S63 9HA
- Monday 3 November (12.30-2.30 p.m.) at St Helen’s Church Hall, High Street, Thurnscoe, S63 0RH
- Wednesday 5 November (4.00-6.30 p.m.) at the Renaissance Centre, Priory Road, Bolton upon Dearne, S63 8AE
People will work with a professional artist, Sue Walpole, to make square-based pyramid lanterns which can be decorated to reflect the themes of light and growth and then brought to the parade on 25 November. It’s free to attend, but numbers are limited to 50 at each event and we really want to have a diversity of nationalities at the workshops and event to reflect the multi-cultural nature of Barnsley MBC.
