Schools of Sanctuary
Penistone St John’s Primary School were announced as the first School of Sanctuary in
Barnsley at a presentation on Wednesday 18th June 2025
A number of other schools are now applying to become Schools of Sanctuary.

Barnsley Libraries were presented with their Award by the Mayor on Wednesday 18th June 2025.
Museums of Sanctuary
Barnsley Museums were presented with their Award by the Mayor of Barnsley on Wednesday 18th June 2025.
